I want to use SafeZone-edge with Genetec Security Center

Security Center and Digital Barriers SafeZone Integration

How does SafeZone work?

When integrated with Security Center, SafeZone-edge directly works on the video stream inside the camera. The video streams are automatically analyzed in real time to recognize predefined behaviors (“rules”) like “intrusion”, “loitering”, “zone crossing” and several others. SafeZone generates in real-time a stream of metadata (i.e. information on the objects, targets and events recognized in the video stream) which is sent to Security Center for display and/or recording. The metadata are translated by Security Center to graphical informations (lines, polygons and text) displayed on top of the corresponding live video stream and archived with the corresponding video stream for later retrieval and playback. When SafeZone generates an alert (because one of more of the predefined rules have been triggered), it sends the alert to Security Center as both a Custom Event and an Alarm. In Security Center an almost limitless panel of actions/behavior can be programmed for reacting to those custom events/alarm, for example:

· a specific recording at high-resolution of the corresponding video stream can be started, with a configurable pre-alarm time

· a bookmark can be added to the recorded video footage, for easier search & retrieval of the corresponding sequence

· physical actions can be triggered (any action supported by Security Center)

· a playback of the sequence can be automatically replayed in loop in a tile, until the end-user acknowledges the alarm

Versions of SafeZone server from V5.0 and above support the integration with Security Center (5.0 or greater).

Versions of SafeZone-edge from V1.0 and above support the integration with Security Center (5.0 or greater).

Overview of the integration

A typical integration between SafeZone-edge and Security Center is depicted in the following graphics:

From the end-customer point of view, the integration between SafeZone-edge and Security Center offers the following advantages:

· the possibility to seamleassy and easily add an i-LIDS® approved primary detection system to every Security Center-based video surveillance infrastructure

· (SafeZone-server) the possibility perform video analytics on all the video sources already connected with Security Center

· (SafeZone-edge) the possibility to avoid the cost and the hassle of additional hardware by running an i-LIDS® approved primary detection system directly into a compatible smart camera, thus adding Video Analytics to Video Surveillance installations at a lower cost

· seamless and effective management in Security Center of alarms generated by SafeZone

· the end-user is able to leverage the almost endless alarm management possibilities offered by Security Center in order to react to Video Analytics alarms

Is SafeZone-edge compatible with Milestone XProtect?

SafeZone-edge is compatible with Milestone XProtect.

Milestone XProtect Corporate and Expert can receive alarms, events, record overlay and display live overlay from SafeZone-edge.

Milestone XProtect Enterprise, Professional and Express can receive alarms and events from SafeZone-edge.

In the download section you can find software and documentation for the Milestone integrations.

Which Genetec Security Center licenses do I need to integrate with SafeZone(-edge)?

In order to integrate SafeZone or SafeZone-edge with the Security Center VMS from Genetec, you need:

  • an additional software module, called "DB SafeZone(-edge) Bridge to Genetec Security Center" (available in the Download Area)

  • at least one Genetec SDK Connection License, whose product code is "GSC-1SDK-DB-SafeZone", to buy directly from Genetec.

The license is used by the "DB SafeZone(-edge) Bridge to Genetec Security Center" service to connect to the Security Center Directory where all the surveillance cameras are declared.

So you need as many "Genetec SDK Connection Licenses" as the number of Security Center Directory servers you want to connect to.

For more specific information, please cf the DB SafeZone(-edge) Bridge to Genetec Security Center User Manual.

Which Milestone XProtect licenses do I need to integrate with SafeZone(-edge)?

In order to integrate SafeZone or SafeZone-edge with the Security Center VMS from Milestone, you need:

  • an additional software module, called "DB SafeZone(-edge) Bridge to Milestone XProtect" (available in the Download Area)

  • eventually, an additional DLK license, to buy directly from Milestone, if you want to display or record in the Milestone Smart Client the metadata generated by SafeZone(-edge).

When integrating with Milestone XProtect, the level of integration achieved depends on the specific XProtect product:

  • for XProtect Corporate or Expert, it is possible to display and record metadata. To activate this feature, you need an additional DLK license (independently from the number of SafeZone(-edge) metadata channels you want to add).

  • for XProtect Corporate or Expert, if you are not interested in metadata display and recording, you don't need this additional DLK license

  • for XProtect Enterprise/Professional/Express, there is no support for metadata, so the additional DLK license is not needed

For more specific information, please cf the DB SZ(-e) Milestone XProtect Integration Configuration Guide

Does SafeZone-edge and SafeZone server (Wintel) provide with the same output interface?

  • SafeZone-edge (embedded AXIS) and SafeZone Wintel use the same output format for TCP/IP alarms.

  • SafeZone-edge (embedded AXIS) and SafeZone Wintel use the same output format for the metadata stream.

  • But the REST interface (for the config, install, start/stop,…) is different between SafeZone-edge (embedded AXIS)and SafeZone Wintel, but it is a REST interface in both cases.

Reasons a camera will not show up when scanning for it in the Mip plugin configuration in Milestone

  • The camera does not have SafeZone-edge installed.

  • The camera has an incorrect gateway.
